Shortcut Europe 2008 :: 22-24 May 2008, Pécs , Hungary
(2008 04 28 23:21)
The conference „Cultural Vitality – Mapping Europe“ is organised by The Hungarian ENCC member “Kulturális Központok Országos Szövetsége (KKOSZ)” in cooperation with ENCC (European Network of Cultural Centres). The participants are going to talk about cultural vitality defined as “evidence of creating, disseminating, validating, and supporting arts and culture as a dimension of everyday life in communities” (Jackson/ Kabwasa-Green/ Herranz 2006, p. 4)
As Istanbul and Pécs are going to be European Capitals of Culture in 2010 the conference aims to create an opportunity to discuss about cultural cooperation and cultural vitality even beyond the current borders of the European Union. That’s why representatives of Turkish cultural centres are especially welcome.
Other issues that are going to be brought up are differences between cultural policies of member states, the relation of cultural and community centres and cultural policies as well as the role of culturally vital communities in bringing European citizens closer together in daily life.
The working language of the conference is English and the participation fee is 50 Euro. The deadline for the registration is Monday, 5 May 2008.
