LivEYP 2008, 17 – 27 July 2008, Liverpool
(2008 07 28 22:48)The 58th International Session of the European Youth Parliament brings together 280 young people (16-24) from over 33 different European countries in a cultural exchange. EYP is an apolitical and independent educational charity with 32 countries involved. Its aim is to promote the European dimension in education and to give students the opportunity to participate in a practical, positive learning experience. Young people are given an opportunity to exchange their values and ideas but also learn the thoughts and characteristics of other nations. They work together in order to establish some common ground.
There are three major International Sessions taking place every year. The delegates are divided into committees with 15 nations represented in each one. There are three major parts: Teambuilding, Committee Work and General Assembly. The session theme is ‘Many Faces, Different Spaces’ - a celebration of our multifaith, multi-ethnic society, examining our diversity, and dissecting our cultural heritage. But there are also other topics discussed - the environment and sustainable development, business and economic growth, international development and social inclusion.
Stella McCrae the Barclays Regional Community Manager in the North East said during the last session held in the UK: “It was good for the region. I think the concept of the EYP is wonderful for all concerned but above all, very powerful for educational relationship developing across countries for the future.”
