European Cultural Foundation Artistic Project Grants - Applications due 31 July 2009

The European Cultural Foundation has announced its grant application deadlines for artistic projects. These are Artistic Project Grants for cultural organisations and individual artists, which aim to support outstanding projects focusing on diversity in Europe. The deadline is 31 July and the final selection in November 2009. The grants equal from €30 000 to €60 000. The first round of Artistic grants took place in September 2008 and attracted more than 1000 applications, among which 13 were chosen.
The guidelines for applicants of the Artistic grant cover the information concerning who precisely is eligible for the programme. The requirements refer to artistic experience, cooperation with other organisations and artists and European citizenship. The artistic projects submitted in the process of application should be new, original and relevant as far as the focus of the programme is concerned: cultural diversity and processes of change in European societies. They should be also completed in 18 months after signing the contract. The projects that are most likely to be supported should be innovative both in artistic and intellectual way. The Foundation is interested in the artist's visions, reflections and questions concerning current changes in Europe, as well as excellence of artistic process and impact of the end artistic product. Only events of long-term importance will be supported.
Some of the projects from the previous round in September 2008 included: a comic book trilogy about Roma travelling across the Czech Republic in the context of European culture; recording various sounds in 6 countries to capture the identity of those countries; creating a contemporary dance performance playing with the idea of being in and out of certain places and investigating Moldovan cultural scene; and many others described on the European Cultural Foundation website.
