Alter Ego 01 March 2008 – 28 February 2009, different cities in Europe
(2008 02 06 14:18)
The project aims to contribute to intercultural dialogue by promoting active European citizenship by young people through joint art projects that allow them to reach beyond their usual social circles. It will help young people to see and understand the complexity of Europe starting at a "grassroots" level, i.e. starting from and linked to the cultural complexity of their own neighbourhoods.
The Project will include:
• a Europe-wide visual art competition of Duo-Portraits focusing on cultural diversity
• an intercultural workshop for the competition’s 44 winners that focuses on the European dimension of cultural diversity (participants will work together in cross-national teams guided by professional trainers, and will create joint projects on the topic of culture diversity and dialogue);
• an interactive website;
• a combination of a touring exhibition, DVD, workshops and talks led by the winners
The target groups are young people aged 14 – 18. The project will be promoted to young people from 20 member states (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia and United Kingdomand) and will encompass a minimum of 48,000 schools.
The project co-ordinated by European Union National Institutes for Culture Brussels - EUNIC - BE
