2009 Europa Nostra Awards

The Prize for Cultural Heritage was launched in 2002 by the European Commission as part of the implementation of the Culture Programme. Europa Nostra, the Pan-European Federation for Cultural Heritage runs the Awards Scheme as it is very experienced in recognising excellence in the field of Cultural Heritage. The Award is annual with an aim to encourage further cultural heritage initiatives through the Power of Example
Up to six entries will be granted a monetary award of € 10 000 while up to twenty-five entries will be awarded a Medal. There are four categories within which the outstanding heritage achievements will be awarded – they are conservation, research, dedicated service by individuals or organisations and education, training and awareness-raising.
Entries can be small and large, local and international but they should display a standard of work considered outstanding in a European context. All dossiers must be submitted in English or French only. The closing date for entries is 1 October 2008.
Entrants will be informed of the decision of the Jury by 15 April 2009. The awards will be presented in June 2009 during the European Heritage Awards Ceremony.
