The European Cultural Season, 1 July – 31 December 2008 :: France

France as a President of the Council of the European Union is launching an interesting initiative and has invited its 26 EU partners to share the best of their heritage and talent.
During the European Cultural Season there will be a series of events highlighting the creative vitality of European cultures as well as their shared identity and cultural heritage. There will be hundreds of events staged around France and in EU countries.
Dance, theatre, classical and contemporary music, sciences, street arts, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, design, architecture, photography, cinema, digital arts, literature - all the disciplines and all sectors of the public will be involved.
The Season will close with ‘Images in the Night’ – the simultaneous projection of hundreds of digital works of art under the main dome of the Grand Palais Museum in Paris from 18 to 31 December.
There will be also 26 ‘tandem’ projects organised. They will be based on cooperation of artists from France and other EU member states as well as European cultural institutions.
French cultural institutions are creating twenty thematic panoramas which will be displayed across Frnace to highlight the dynamism of European creativity in all fields.
The Season works also in partnership with the Ministry of Education in order to be closer to young people and students. It includes the sponsorship of educational and scientific events.
