(2009 05 18 23:00)
The Nordic Composer's Council has initiated a dynamic and unique partner network RE: NEW MUSIC, which brings together European composers, new music ensembles, music information centres, composer societies and copyright associations from 11 countries. The network supports the circulation and performance of existing high quality ensemble repertoire and initiates exchange of music, knowledge and new ideas.
The first two-year project running till November 2010 brings together 12 partners and 22 European new music ensambles from 11 countries. The idea of the project is that each ensable receives funding for rehearsing and playing concerts, additionally building a context around them: they organise workshops, seminars and open rehearsals and invite musicians, composers, music students and new audiences. This way musicians and audiences interact and exchange experience and ideas. RE: NEW MUSIC is also trying to perform more new music by living composers.
RE: NEW MUSIC is coordinated by by the Danish Composers´ Society in Copenhagen and financed by the European Union Culture Programme and the Nordic Council of Ministers, in addition to contribution from the 12 partners in the project.
