Linz, the European Capital of Culture 2009 presents “Höhenrausch”, the last part of the exhibition trilogy “Schaurausch > Tiefenrausch > Höhenrausch”, the project of the OK Offenes Kulturhaus Oberösterreich, entitled “Art in the City!!”. The project started in 2007 with “Schaurausch–Viewing Spree”, presenting art in the display windows of the downtown shops. Then in 2008 “Tiefenrausch–Rapture of the Deep” art was taken to Linz's cellars, tunnels and caves. Now, the final presentation “Höhenrausch–High-Altitude Euphoria” is taking art lovers up to the rooftops via stairs, plateaus and bridges, which become artistic venues.
The roof of the OK acts as a “heaven’s gate” and a starting point of the artistic walk. Other main stops include the roofs of the City Parking Deck, the Passage City Center mall and the Ursulinenhof cultural facility. Spectators of the exhibition may expect 'heavenly thrills' viewig the city – the protagonist of the exhibition from a totally different perspective. The city sights are used by European and Asian artists in a new context in their installations, creating a new and innovative vision of Linz, the European Capital of Culture 2009.
