Culture Action Europe's appeal before the European elections.

Culture Action Europe is one of the largest alliances of artistic and cultural networks and organisations in the European Union. They represent the interests of their members and contribute to strengthening the role of the arts and culture in the development of Europe.

The European elections are now approaching. It is very important for the cultural sector to built as soon as possible constructive relationships with the newly elected MEPs, especially in the Education and Culture Committee. Culture Action Europe in the letter sent to the main political groups of the European Parliament tries to raise the Group’s awareness to cultural issues and encourage them to consider with attention their nominations to the Culture Committee.

Culture Action Europe reminds the politicians of the fact that arts and culture are a crucial part of educational process, fighting social inequalities and developing an active European citizenship. Cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue are key words in contemporary societies. Arts and culture also contribute to the economy, through key sectors such as tourism, the creative industries and others.

Therefore the political groups are encouraged to support Culture Action Europe during the next mandate in key European policy areas such as the status and the mobility of artists, freedom of cultural expression, intercultural dialogue or the need to facilitate and improve the funding of European cultural projects.
