Open Call NORDISKT LJUS

NORDISKT LJUS is looking for artists based in the Nordic region for an artistic residency between 4 and 31 July 2022. The residency takes place at Nordiska folkhögskolan (Nordic Folk High School) in Kungälv, where the residents are invited to develop artistic work in relation to a theme.

Kungälv is one of Sweden's largest hubs for right-wing extremism. Nordiskt Ljus works as a counterforce to this, by examining artistic and human ways to resisting fascism and nationalism. This year's topic of the residency will be GOODNESSinvolving the questions:What does goodness mean and how could goodness be relative? With the residency we encourage you to examine the relationship between good and evil - and what's on the spectrum in between. Is it necessarily always a relationship between two opposite poles?

The residents can approach the topic in a political or poetic, broad or specific, obvious or abstract way. They are invited to explore the theme in a free and immeasurable context where they are given support to develop their artistic ideas.

Applications can be submitted until 17 April. More information can be found here.

NORDISKT LJUS is a meeting place and cultural explosion for art and culture practitioners in the Nordic countries. It's is a creative counterforce to the right-wing extremist movements that claim the Nordic concept as right-wing extremist forces are gaining ground around the Nordic countries and Europe. NORDISKT LJUS is arranged at and by the Nordic Folk High School with a program consisting of courses, residencies and festivals.
