A Cultural Deal for Europe

The Cultural Deal for Europe is a call from a wider European cultural community to acknowledge the pivotal role of culture in shaping the future of our lives. The aim of the policy conversation is to inspire and engage the wider European community of artists, cultural workers, creative industries and heritage stakeholders in building a future that is more resilient and sustainable for Europe and its citizens.

Join the Annual Policy Conversation A Cultural Deal for Europe, that will be held in a hybrid format – in Brussels and online - on 18 November 2021 from 15:00 to 18:00 CET. The event will bring together Europe’s cultural scene and European policymakers to engage in a dialogue, to share ideas and develop together the way forward to put culture at the heart of the European project.

At last year’s event, the organisers jointly proposed a Cultural Deal for Europe to acknowledge the pivotal role of culture in shaping the future. The overarching strategy focuses on both facilitating the contribution of culture to Europe’s sustainable development and providing the sector with the credibility and resources for realising its full potential. The organisers also created a toolkit and guidelines to provide Culture Action Europe members and partners with the necessary elements to support the #CulturalDealEU campaign.

This year’s event will focus on the contribution of culture and cultural heritage to Europe’s recovery, and to its green, more sustainable and inclusive future through the European Green Deal, the Conference on the Future of Europe and the New European Bauhaus, of which the three hosting organisations are official partners. The programme and speakers of the event will be made public soon through the communication channels of the organisers. The registration will be open until 15 November.

More information about the event can be found here.

The Policy Conversation is organised by Culture Action Europe (CAE), the European Cultural Foundation (ECF), Europa Nostra and Bozar.
