How is your own judgment influenced if you don't know anything about the names and origins of the authors? How do you develop your own definition of value when prices are consistent? Where is the boundary between art and non-art? ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS is conceptual art and an exhibition project in one: the works of the participating artists become part of a collective work of art without hierarchies because the viewer doesnt know the artist behind the art.
Around 500 international drawings by 500 different artists will be presented as part of the exhibition ANONYME DRAWINGS 2022 in the Galerie im Körnerpark (Berlin). The works will be exhibited without naming the authors and will be offered for sale. The artists' anonymity can only be abolished by a sale: Sold drawings are taken directly from the exhibition wall, and the name and place of origin of the respective artists are written in the resulting blank space on the wall.
The exhibition is preceded by an international online call for participation that is open to everyone. There are no content requirements, just a formal rule: only works up to a maximum format of A3 will be exhibited. Biographical information of the participants is not requested and plays no role in the selection. The selection of the works for the exhibition is made on the basis of anonymous, digital image files. Accompanying the exhibition ANONYME DRAWINGS 2022, the LINES FICTION project invites to a film screening with ANIMATIONS and CARTOON FILMS presented in a loop. The film presentation will be preceded by an international CALL FOR PARTICIPATION open to all, for which animated short films can be submitted until 18 April.
