ARS BALTICA NEWSLETTER #11

"Arts and culture can play an important role in improving rural areas and the quality of life of people living there. Among others, they can help to create new connections and bring together different communities, improve communication about rural areas, contribute to the improvement of shared cultural identity and engage disadvantaged groups (such as youth or migrants)."

This quote from the Arts and culture in rural areas publication sums up the important positive characteristics of rural arts. Unfortunately, culture and artistic creation are still too often associated only with urban regions That's why we want to focus on arts in rural areas in our current Newsletter.

You'll find the initiatives KreisKultur and New Patrons which are focusing on producing cultural projects with citizens from rural areas. You'll also find residencies from Sweden, Lithuania and Northern Germany that aim to expand the notion of residencies in rural areas and to rethink the relationship between humans and the environment: https://mailchi.mp/d9cec4ef3c57/ars-baltica-newsletter-112022
