Arts and Health in Communities

The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) and the Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being (NDPHS) have together launched the guide "Talking Points: Arts and Health in Communities”.

The publication presents arts-based interventions that combine medical and cultural approaches with the aim of offering support to arts and health practitioners interested in creative approaches to wellbeing. Talking Points includes five short vignettes and five short principles. One of the case studies is the project CREATIVE HOME(less) that provided seven art therapy sessions to 23 homeless hostel residents in various cultural places in Lithuania.

The guide has been launched within an interactive online event “Approaches to culture and health cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region” that can be rewatched here and is based on lessons learned in the Art of Staying Healthy pilot projects. The Arts of Staying Healthy programme aims to empower collaboration between the arts and health sectors and to pilot arts interventions in the health and wellbeing of people and communities in the Northern Dimension area.

The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) is a governmental initiative which brings together national authorities, practitioners from cultural and creative industries (CCI) and experts. Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being's vision is to lead the way to sustainable and inclusive societies with equal opportunities for good health and wellbeing for all throughout the life course.
