Bergen Assembly is an international art triennial taking place in Bergen every third year. Each edition is guided by a convener who is free to invent new ways of conceiving the event, allowing each iteration of Bergen Assembly to take on a distinctly different shape and format. This year's festival will be curated by Yasmine d’O and convened by Saâdane Afif.
For the 4th edition of Bergen Assembly, the curator Yasmine d’O. invites the public to follow the fictional character Yasmine on her quest for a seven-sided solid body called the Heptahedron. Her search is guided by seven enigmatic characters who lend their names to seven exhibitions spread across different venues in the city of Bergen, Norway from 8 September to 6 November. Each character-exhibition brings together three distinct artistic positions, offering a multiplicity of perspectives on the issues raised by their puzzling titles.
The opening day on 8 September will take place at Gyldenpris Kunsthall, with an artist introduction with Augustin Maurs. DJ Love Pump (Liliana Palanca) will be playing some tunes at Bergen Assembly's office bar on the opening night.
The festival will take place at venues such as Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design and Bergen Kunsthall. Artists such as Daniel Buren, Sol Calero, Claude Debussy, Denicolai & Provoost, Neue Gestaltung and Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster will participate.
