Bergen Festival

Welcome to the 70th Festival in Bergen, Norway! The opening ceremony takes place in the heart of the city, on Torgallmenningen. The Festival will take place from Wednesday 25 May to Wednesday 08 June. The Bergen Festival was established in 1953 and is the flagship of the Nordic music and performing arts festivals. Entertainment and surprises will await the visitor.

The opening ceremony is an annual free folk festival that usually gathers several thousand people and marks the start of the Bergen Festival. The program contains artistic elements, speeches and the traditional all-singing of Nystemten and Ja, vi Love .

The festival has established itself as a center for the northern European art scene, known for premieres, new productions in music, opera, theater and dance and a great diversity in the program. Unique arenas such as the composer Edvard Grieg's own home and the 750-year-old royal seat Håkonshallen form a historical setting around a bubbling festival that gives the audience hundreds of living, exploratory art experiences on dozens of stages inside and out every year.

In 2022, the Bergen International Festival will be held in the city between the seven mountains for the 70th time. In honour of this, the festival got a new anniversary logo and new elements in the visual toolbox. The design expands on the festival’s award-winning identity and reflects 70 years of friction, foundations and festivities in Bergen. This year's festival begins on Wednesday, 25 May, and during the months ahead, you will see the anniversary design as it pops up in many contexts. The festival’s visual profile was created by Anti in 2013 and is based on a geometric pattern which in turn is based on music, rhythm and movement. The anniversary design, created by Try in 2022, expands the visual universe with more geometric shapes and enhances the existing colour profile.

The diverse program includes exhibitions, performances and concerts.
One great example is Lene Berg.
She is a film director and visual artist. She studied film directing at the Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm, and has directed four feature films in addition to a large number of art video works and short films. In her practice as an artist, she often uses a combination of film and video together with text and books, collage and photography. For the Festival Exhibition in Bergen Kunsthall , Berg is planning a comprehensive new project that will unfold through the art gallery's exhibition halls. The exhibition is the first part of a larger work under the title From Father .

Here are some examples of the anniversary design.
