Open Call BETA CIRCUS

BETA CIRCUS is looking for 4 circus artists (collectives or individual artists) for an international capacity building programme in new trends for circus arts, with a focus on the participatory circus.

BETA CIRCUS Participatory experience is a cooperation project that aims to create an European transnational opportunity to explore theparticipatory circus as a future trend to engage the public participation in the circus creative process, letting the audience to become co-authors, editors, and observers of the artistic work.

Selected collectives will join local collectives with experience in participatory arts (selected by national open calls) for a collaborative experience. Four expert mentors will lead the artistic laboratories, ensure the mentoring programme and guide the participants for the artistic experiences. Additional guests will join the artistic laboratories, ensuring a broader experience and discussion on participatory arts. The activities are scheduled in between 2023 and 2025, taking place in Italy, Latvia, Portugal and Serbia with a Final Conference on 25 March 2025. The project will cover the travel expenses, accommodation. BETA CIRCUS partners will pay 3.500€ to each selected group/artist to contribute to the artistic experience and final performance.

The call is directed to circus artistic collectives or individual artists with or without experience in participatory circus but interested to join the participatory arts methodology and test it applied to circus arts. Applications can be submitted until 24 April. Find more information here.

BETA CIRCUS has also published an Open Call for artists working in participatory arts for an international capacity building programme in new trends for circus arts, with focus on participatory circus. One collective will be selected for each partner country: Italy, Latvia, Portugal and Serbia. Deadline is also 24 April.
