As part of the Baltic Sea States Subregional Cooperation (BSSSC) conference and as a BSR Cultural Pearl 2024, the city of Kiel is inviting all interested individuals to a cultural evening at the Schauspielhaus Theatre in Kiel on September 19th at 19:30 CET. Admission is free of charge. Registration is mandatory.
Connecting to the goals of the BSR Cultural Pearls project, the event will explore how culture can contribute to social resilience. A panel discussion, moderated by Kiel based television journalist Kristin Recke from the NDR Schleswig-Holstein, will include representatives from all four Cultural Pearls: Svendborg (Denmark), Kiel (Germany), Jakobstad (Finland), and Rūjiena (Latvia). The mayor of Kiel, Dr. Ulf Kämpfer, and Daniel Karasek, General Director of Kiel Theatre, will welcome guests and Minister for European Affairs Werner Schwarz will give the closing speech, with all speeches being held in English.
The cultural programme will feature performances by the academies of Kiel Theatre, including the orchestra, ballet academy, children's and youth choir. Additionally, the Kiel Meermanege will present a dance partner acrobatics performance focused on the theme of the sea and marine conservation. The evening will conclude with an excerpt from the Kiel Theatre's current production of 'Romeo and Juliet'. Registration for the event is mandatory and can done via email via kreativ[at]kiel.de
As the BSSSC annual conference coincides with the BSR Cultural Pearls Partner Meeting as well as the transnational exchange of the current Pearls as title holders, not only ARS BALTICA but the whole partnership and project with all individuals involved as well as the BSSSC conference organisers are looking forward to meeting you in Kiel!
