CPH:DOX Documentary Film Festival

CPH:DOX - Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival is one of the biggest documentary film festivals in the world. This year's festival will be exploring three important tracks in the programme: Art, Science, and Society from 23 March to 3 April. Audiences in Copenhagen can experience the tracks on three new venues – each with a dedicated pop-up cinema where film screenings will be accompanied by debates, talks, concerts, performances and a number of special events.

An ambitious programme consisting of approximately 180 films by established and emerging filmmakers, as well as debates, seminars, exhibitions, concerts, curated programmes – and much more will be shown during the festival. The five competitions, that will all be evaluated by an international jury, are: the Dox:Award, New:Vision, F:act Award, Nordic:Dox Award, and Next:Wave Award. The full competition line-up consists of 59 titles and features 39 world premieres, 16 international premieres and 4 European premieres.

The programme pays attention to gender representation with 50% of the films being directed or co-directed by female directors. The selection both includes films from established, international, award-winning directors as well as new voices across the five competitions. The festival organisers also have selected a number of strong films offering a range of views on life in Ukraine such as The Earth is Blue as an Orange, an audience favourite from Sundance and Berlin about a Ukrainian family who come together to make small films in the midst of turbulent and chaotic times.

The hybrid version of CPH:DOX will take place between 23 March and 3 April in Copenhagen. In addition, a selection of films will be part of a nation-wide online festival from 1-10 April. CPH:DOX establishes a space for reflection, dialogue and opinion across society, making sure that the films and their themes stay with the viewers long after the films have ended. More information can be found here.

CPH:DOXhas had the pleasure of introducing its audience to some of the best Danish and international documentary films in Copenhagen for almost 20 years and is working on becoming the best film festival in and for the world.
