Digital learning & education in museums

NEMO Working Group LEM - The Learning Museum has launched the report "Digital learning and education in museums - Innovative approaches and insight". A digital webinar on the report will take place on 27 April.

The report presents digital projects, recommendations and helpful tools when fostering digital engagement, learning and education in the post-pandemic cultural heritage sector. It highlights 15 projects from 12 European countries that were developed for remote museum audiences from early 2020 to 2022. Professionals looking for new ideas and formats for meaningful digital engagement with virtual visitors and reaching new audiences may turn to this report for inspiration. The report covers topics such as educational opportunities associated with the digitisation of museum collections and archives, as well as open access to museum data; creative interactions with digitised collections, such as citizen co-curation and sustainable practices to profit from digital innovations. The report launch webinar "Digital Learning and Education in Museums: How innovative approaches contribute to the future of digital engagement" on 27 April will focus on the question of how Extended Reality, the Metaverse and AI Chatbots can help audiences engage with cultural heritage institutions and the many exciting stories they can tell.

The Network of European Museum Organisations (NEMO) was founded in 1992 as an independent network of national museum organisations representing the museum community of the member states of the Council of Europe. Together, NEMO’s members speak for more than 30,000 museums in 40 countries across Europe. The network ensures museums are an integral part of European life by promoting their work and value to policy makers and by providing museums with training, information, networking and opportunities for collaboration.
