On September 5th, ARS BALTICA together with artist Oksana Yushko, who resides at Nordkolleg Rendsburg until July 2024, took a tour of the Nordkolleg garden and learnt more about the diverse actions taken there to shape it in a future-oriented way.
Over the last decades, the garden of the Nordkolleg Rendsburg has evolved into a diverse ecosystem that is greatly enjoyed by everyone visiting and witnessing it. This development is in great parts tied to the motivation of the Nordkolleg's gardener Jochen Bock and supported by a widely granted freedom to practice the gardening to his likings. Subsequently, he enjoys explaining all the garden projects to visitors and it was about time that ARS BALTICA and Oksana Yushko took a tour with him. His explanations serve as inspiration for our artist resident's research. The insights spanned topics such as permaculture, the Kon-Tiki wood burning technique, relocating butterflies and used-to-be local plants to the garden, the politics behind it all and much more.
Thank you to Jochen for showing us around!
