FEMINIST FUTURES FESTIVAL

FEMINIST FUTURES FESTIVAL will take place on 2 - 6 November in Berlin with wide-ranging artistic positions presented from all over Europe. The programme does not focus exclusively on feminist topics but follows feminist guidelines.

The underlying aim of the festival is to challenge conventions in the arts regarding institutional decision-making, hierarchies and power structures and payment terms. The artists Sergiu Matis, Milla Koistinen and Harun Morrison will bring spectators and artists into an exchange. In Berlin, they invite the audience to a discussion on 3 November that is meant to offer more insights into the artistic works presented at the FEMINIST FUTURES FESTIVALS and linking them to each other. Check out the programme here.

In parallel, Tanzfabrik Berlin will also host the second part of the FEMINIST SCHOOL BERLIN to follow on from the first edition last September. The Feminist School aims to be a place of encounter between different concepts and lived experiences of feminism; a place where a variety of approaches to embodying, sharing, and practicing these principles can enter into a dialogue and inform and nurture one another.

The festival will continue in Warsaw (17-20 November) and in Salzburg (25 November 25 - 2 December), some of the participating artists will travel to all three cities, where they will present different pieces and participate in discursive formats, and so spin a common thread to link the three European cultural institutions and their respective editions of the FEMINIST FUTURES FESTIVAL. The journey was imagined and conceptualized in cooperation with the Instytut Sztuk Performatywnych of Warsaw and SZENE, Salzburg, as well as with three artists supported by the European project: Milla Koistinen, Sergiu Matis and Agata Maszkiewicz.
