Frequenz__ Festival Kiel and Kiel__ Greenline | 16 to 23 May 2025

From May 16 to 23, the 2025 edition of the is taking place across different locations in Kiel, Germany. This year, the focus lies on topics such as the disintegration of social structures, the blurring of boundaries between the digital and real world as well as the loss of direct contact with reality. Artistic perspectives create new orders and open up new sound spaces.

The Frequenz Festival represents a special cultural bridge to the Nordic countries. Through its own productions in co-operation with leading festivals in Europe, its work has an impact across borders and strengthens the name of Kiel and the state of Schleswig-Holstein.

Following the grand opening on May 16, 2025 at 18.00 CET  in the KulturForum and Foyer of the Stadtgalerie (registration here) the festival begins its presentation of new sounds and special contributions by the best young musicians* from Schleswig-Holstein. Various concerts, performances, installations and presentations will take place at different venues over the duration of the festival.

On May 23, 2025 between 13:00 and 18:00 CET, the kick-off event of the Kiel Greenline project (registration here) is planned, which will take a closer look at the transformation to climate-friendly production and include guests from leading festivals and cultural institutions from Kiel as well as partner cities.
Following various presentations by high-profile representatives of European cultural life, a panel discussion is planned with these guests from Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel partners and associated cities. In this context, ARS BALTICA will provide insights into the topic of cultural co-operation in the Baltic Sea region. All interested parties from Schleswig-Holstein and beyond are most welcome. Participation in the event is free of charge.
