Göteborg Film Festival

This year's Göteborg Film Festival is filled with talks, interviews and much more. The festival is finally returning to the cinemas in Göteborg where about 200 films from 80 countries will be shown in around 500 screenings from 28 January to 6 February.

Göteborg Film Festival  is the largest film festival in the Nordic countries, every year the festival team tracks down films from all over the world for the festival. This year's focus of the festival is "Disorder", the organisers want to explore the boundary between order and disorder, in our society and within ourselves. Through The Hypnotic Cinema the festival examines what happens with the film experience if the visitors dare to lose control over their consciousness by being hypnotized. Before three chosen films, a hypnotist will perform a mass hypnosis from the mainstage at Stora Teatern in Göteborg. The hypnotist will transform the audience’s state of mind in accordance with the mood and theme of the film. After the screening, the hypnotist will break the hypnosis. The trailer can be found here.

The festival’s industry section, Nordic Film Market, is the foremost marketplace for Nordic film and TV drama as well as an important meeting place industry visitors from all over the world. Since the festival started in 1979 every year the Dragon Award honours Best Nordic Films, Best Acting, Best International Films and much more. The award has one of the biggest cash prices for a film award.

The digital edition of the festival will show in total 50 films, that  can only be streamed in Sweden. Online visitors will be guided through the festival by a host and have access to interviews, festival atmosphere and digital meetings with film makers. The entire program can be found here.
