Heartland Festival

Heartland combines live conversations and contemporary art with the best from the music and food scene in the magical surroundings of Slotsparken around Egeskov Castle on Midtfyn in Denmark. The festival will run from 8 to 10 June.

Heartland presents art from established as well as promising international and Danish artists to elaborate on the contrasts between contemporary art, an open-air space, and a 16th-century castle, combined with a mix of international superstars as well new strains of the Danish music scene. The TALKS programme invites Danish and international participants to discuss and address ideas, problems, and solutions relating to the time and the world we inhabit.

This year's headliner in the art programme is the internationally renowned Danish-Vietnamese artist Danh Vo. Over the next three years, he will create a series of site-specific works for Heartland. The works will continuously change in form and expression, giving guests new experiences every time they visit the festival until 2025. This is the first time Heartland has entered into a multi-year artist collaboration. As the second headliner at Heartland, Danish artist Julie Stavad will create a large new site-specific work for the festival. Stavad works with sculpture and installations, often incorporating oversized objects - all with a sense of beauty, drama and humour.

The festival aims to follow the global commitments agreed in the Paris Agreement, combined with the shared, specific goals the festival have set within Live Nation. By 2026 Heartland will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared to the 2019 level.
