International Poetry Film Festival

The International Poetry Film Festival is an annual festival dedicated to the genres of poetry film and video poetry. This year's edition takes place on 19 and 20 May with the motto „Poetry is dance“.

The International Poetry Film Festival aims to stimulate the exchange between literature and media art, between filmmakers and authors. It is characterized by the close connection between an international competition, its own film production, and the Poetry film magazine. The center of the festival is the presentation of the Weimar Poetry Film Award, 578 short films from 60 countries were submitted for the this year's award.

The opening on 19 May will focus on how the disciplines forms dance and poetry can strengthen, push and shape each other. The program “World Mirror of Poetry” on 20 May will travel around the globe in leaps and contradictions to take a look at the state of the world and its poetry. The shown films are based on the poems such as "Summer sonata about my city" by Andrej Al-Asadi and “A Supermarket in California” by Allen Ginsberg. Some films will be available at the online library from 19 to 31 May.
