Air-Kjerringøy is a project that is run by artists and is inviting artists for a residency in Kjerringøy in Bodø, Northern Norway above the polar circle with a possibility to show the artworks to the people in the region.
Air-Kjerringøy is looking for professional visual artists, musicians, authors and others, working in any media for a 6-weeks residency. The residence is situated at Kjerringøy in Bodø, Northern Norway above the polar circle, 67°49’ N and 14º 89’ E. The project is artist run an has no accommodation of its own. This year the organisers rent Kjerringøy Prestegård and turn it into a residency with both living and working areas for 3 persons at a time.
The organisers will show and communicate the art of the residents to the people in this region, and give international artists a beautiful experience, inspiration and fruitfull working prosesses, in the exciting island of Kjerringøy. The organisers also rented a farm and have other spaces for bigger works, as all kind of hand tools and machines for wood and steel.There is also a cooperation with Nord Universitet, the panelists can be incited to hold artists talks there.
This program responds to the individual artistic practice of the resident, and preparatory skype meetings between the program manager and the artist can be conducted in preparation for the residency. The residencies will take place on 29 August - 10 October and 17 October - 27 November. Applications should be submitted until 19 April 2022. More information can be found here.
This year's residency will be co-funded by Den kulturelle skolesekken/ The Cultural Schoolbag (TSC) in Nordland. TCS is a national programme designed to ensure that all school pupils in Norway experience professional art and culture of all kinds. Applicants should mention in their application if they are interested to work with TCS and Nordland county after the residency.
