The BEGEHUNGEN Festival is calling for submissions for festival's 2021 edition. Artistic works, concepts/projects under the freely interpretable title LEERZEIT ('idle time') are welcome. In relation to the festival, there is an open call for a residency four weeks in Chemnitz, Germany as well. The festival itself takes place from 12 to 15 August 2021.
All forms of artistic expressions are welcome. The selected artists will exhibit at the festival site with accompany by a diverse programme of music, readings and workshops.
The festival provides an allowance of 300€ and the shipping costs. For artists who stay during the residency, the festival provides an allowance of 1300€ plus 700€ for materials, in addition the arrival and departure costs will be refunded and a free accommodation will be provided. For residencies that take less than four weeks, the allowance and material costs will be reduced proportionally. In case of a group applying, the allowance and material costs will be split between all artists.
It is possibly to apply for the residency and to submit artistic work, therefore two separate applications are requested. The deadline for applications is 9 May 2021.
The art festival BEGEHUNGEN has been taking place in Chemnitz since 2003 - as the largest off-culture event in the city. The trademark is an unconventional and low-threshold approach to art. For this reason, the BEGEHUNGEN are not just a temporary art exhibition, they are a social meeting point for people of different backgrounds.
