Open Call Beuys Research Grant

The foundation Curated Affairs invites two professional artists based in Warsaw to attend a research residency in Düsseldorf (Germany) to mark the 100th birthday of Joseph Beuys and to honour the town twinning between Poland’s capital Warsaw and the state capital Düsseldorf.

The research residency will last 14 days and will desirably take place in July 2021. There is no age restriction for the applicants. The submission of a research project proposal on the work of Joseph Beuys is required. During the stay, it is recommended to benefit from the extensive programme of the anniversary year, listed at beuys2021.de.

The selected artists are awarded a one-time scholarship of 500 euros each. Travel costs are covered and accommodation (one-room apartment) is provided.

Applications should be submitted before the deadline of25 April. The two finalists will be announced two weeks later on 9 May. The Beuys Research Grant is a joint project between the Cultural Office of the State Capital Düsseldorf, Polish Institute Düsseldorf, and Curated Affairs. Curated Affairs is Kasia Lorenc and Angelika J. Trojnarski. They curate pop-up exhibitions and events at various venues and in changing collaborations and work together with both young and established contemporary artists. The activities reflect the Polish origins and current German homeland either in the exhibition content or in the choice of artists involved
