Open Call CUNE Comics-in-Residence

CUNE Comics-in-Residence Programme (CUNE CiR) invites comic artists and other professionals to explore the culture, the people and the local comics scene of neighbouring countries.

Selected artists will work with the Finnish Comics Society and focus on producing new comic art, be that a publication, exhibition or workshop. Through individual projects and collaboration with local comic actives, the artists will get the opportunity to form new professional and personal ties as well as to exchange essential know-how.

The selected artists will be offered a stay in a HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme atelier apartment on the island of Suomenlinna. The atelier apartment needs to be shared between the selected artists of each residency period. The two residency periods take place on 26 September - 22 October and 25 October - 22 November. The organisers are also offering a project allowance of 900€ and the return travel expenses.

Artists and professionals living in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland are welcome to apply. Application documents including examples of the work, 1–2-page project proposal (proposal can also be in comic or video form) and preferred residency period can be submitted until 11 June. More information can be found here.
