Open Call Digital Art Residency

Transmediale and Pro Helvetia have launched the second cycle of the Digital Art Residency. The two-month hybrid residency, including one month online and one month in Berlin, will take place between July and September 2023.

Whether it’s the return of the past in the present or conspiracies nested within conspiracies, networks, and platforms have become a playground for entertainment and fear. As unreliable narratives spread, and climate and social inequalities expand and endure, an atmosphere of doubt creeps in. As this undercurrent of foreboding permeates across digital platforms, the Digital Art Residency welcomesnew or ongoing projects that question what kinds of illogical, irrational, and unusable politics and affect emerge?

Four artists (two artists from or based in Switzerland, and two artists from any nationality or locality) will be selected for the residency. Proposals from artists based in Germany are especially welcome. The residency is open to all formats including projects including text, 3D, film, sound, performances, artificial intelligence, API’s, research or games. The first month of the residency will take place as an online format in July or August, the second month will take place at transmediale studio in Berlin in August or September.

The organisers are offering an artist fee of € 1,900 per month plus per diems for the month in Berlin for each two-month residency. Applications can be submitted until 25 June. Find more information and the Open Call criteria here.
