TanzLabor Ulm is a platform that facilitates and promotes artistic creation in the field of dance. TanzLabor offers participants creative opportunities in four areas to develop innovative artistic content, while facilitating deeper audience connections to dance.
The TanzLabor - ROXY Ulm and the artistic director Pablo Sansalvador are looking for five innovative digital dance makers. The aim of this open call is to create five short choreographic works of five to eight minutes.
Dance makers who want to challenge themselves artistically and want discover how dance can embrace the digital revolution are welcome to apply. Dance makers from all forms and styles and from a wide range of backgrounds are encouraged to apply until 13 June 2021.
The five selected participants will receive a fee of 750€, free accommodation, up to 150€ towards the travel expenses, two days studio time, a recording day, personal documentation through photography and film, as well as inclusion in the marketing and press related work of the TanzLabor - ROXY Ulm.
During the stay at TanzLabor the movement of the digital dance maker will be recorded by motion capture technology. The results will be transformed into Augmented Reality, allowing each of the digital dance makers to be visible and present within a larger dance installation performance called "Tanz mit dem Tiger" (in Eng.: "The dance with the tiger") which will premiere on 3 September 2021.
