The entry for the Ecodesign Award is open for applications from companies and organisations from all sectors and of all sizes that stand out with developed products, services or concepts that have an outstanding ecological quality, an innovative approach and a high design quality. The application deadline is 12 April 2021.
The application form contains questions on the design and ecological quality of the competition entry and space for individual descriptions. For example, questions are asked about the innovative aspects compared to the state of the art and about the environmental benefits achieved by the submitted product, service or concept along the value chain. Questions will also be asked about the environmental impact as well as the effects on everyday culture and consumer behaviour.
All nominees and winners are invited to the awards ceremony, which includes guests from the worlds of politics, business and design and takes place in the atrium of the German Federal Environment Ministry in Berlin.
The nominated and winning projects will be presented in a touring exhibition that will be shown for one year in museums, at fairs and design festivals. More information can be found here.
The award strives to promote environmentally friendly changes in development and production as well as in consumer behaviour. Since 2012, the Award has been granted annually by the Federal Ministry for the Environment BMU and the German Environment Agency UBA in cooperation with the International Design Center Berlin IDZ.
