The consortium of translation residencies "Translation in Motion" is offering Literary Translation Residencies. Translators working from or into the languages of the Western Balkan countries are welcome to apply to an open call for the residencies.
The Translation in Motion team is of the opinion that literary translators play an influential and necessary role as ambassadors in the cultural dialogue to connect different culture and let them interact with each other.
To further enlarge the cultural dialogue, the Literary Residencies offer the translators time for focused creative work on a literary translation project, an opportunity to immerse themselves in the source language of their translation, to carry out research, to raise their visibility by networking with the local literary sector and presenting their work to local audiences.
The residencies will be hosted by a variety of different organisations. These organisations are from France, Serbia, Montenegro, Sweden, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Latvia and the UK. Depending on the language combination and host organisation, translators should be citizens of any EU country or of the Western Balkans. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2021. Translation in Motion is a joint residency program of RECIT that aims to enrich and intensify the flow of translated literature in contemporary Europe, and specifically between the Western Balkans countries and the EU member states. RECIT is a network of European literary translation centres offering residencies for translators and organising public events bringing together writers, translators & audiences.
