Open Call Hazegallery

Hazegallery in Berlin has launched two Open Calls for photographers and visual artists from Ukraine, Russia and CIS in order to help the viewers to understand how many brilliant and unique authors live in Ukraine, Russia, and over CIS countries and to understand their pacific and strong position.

HAZEGALLERY resumes representation of photographers and visual artists from Ukraine, Russia, and CIS as the art is the multicultural language of the piece and many talented photographers and artists have to be silent in their countries because of politics. Every gallery will show an exhibition (a week or two) by one contemporary painter or photographer for CIS countries. HAZEGALLERY will work as a showroom and the visitors will have the possibility to see all authors. The organisers hope this position will help the viewers to understand how many brilliant and unique authors live in Ukraine, Russia, and over CIS countries, to understand their pacific and strong position, even if they are keeping silent because of the circumstances. Deadline for submitting applications is 25 December.

The second call by the gallery is for artists who remain incredibly brave, continue to protest the authoritarian and military state and are fighting for a better world. Their sharp political and social works will form the basis of theDon’t leave from the Window exhibition. The name is based on the theory in global politics and social studies called The Overton Window, that shows how human society can adapt to any changes, both positive and negative. According to this theory, a lot of totalitarian societies arose, which remember world history. Begun as a categorically disapproved of changes in society, boycotted and protested, after years, they led to the fact that totalitarian and authoritarian became the basis of the state system. But this theory can work not only with negative developments, for example, but some social phenomena, like slavery or infringements of rights of different social groups, also passed away becoming relics. Deadline for submissions is 6 June, the exhibition will start on 13 June. Information about both Open Calls can be found here.
