Open Call hybrida.space

hybrida.space has launched an Open Call for a residency that revolves around the question "How can we, as a group, set collective goals and self-organize in ways that prioritize both individual creativity and communality?"

The selected artists will together shape the residency program, starting with a few preparatory meetings online in which the parameters will be set. The main idea is to promote and sustain an artistic exchange by developing new projects that can be presented in a final exhibition format. The organisers are curious how the applicants think they could benefit from working in a group, as well as in a remote setting. The residency will take place in the larger district of Älvsbacka (Sweden) that spreads out over a surface of 70.000km² and has around 270 permanent inhabitants.

hybriada.space is looking for applicants that have graduated from higher studies in visual arts or equivalent fields, or alternatively, have a professional art practice for more than 3 years, and who are available 90-100% of the time between 22 May and 23 July.

Duos can also apply but they have to be prepared to share a room and the budget/fees. Dogs or cats are allowed as long as the rest of the group is okay with it. The housing unit is not accessible with a wheelchair. If appliicants do have a disability, they are welcome to reach out to the organisers so they can discuss options. Applications can be submitted unti 25 November. Find more information here.

hybrida.space is an art/curatorial initiative launched by artists Giorgos Tsiongas (GR) & Joar Torbiörnsson (SE) in 2021, focusing on creating virtual/physical ground & open-ended curatorial frameworks, where artists can develop and show new work. hybrida.space sees a growing need for art practitioners to engage in an open, playful, transparent, and non-hierarchical exchange with one another, and to create fluid boundaries in between different roles such as curators, organizers, and audience.
