Open Call Jewish Film Festival

The Jewish Film Festival Berlin and Brandenburg (JFBB) is the largest Jewish film festival in Germany. It will take place from 14 to 19 June 2022 in Berlin and Potsdam. The organisers are looking for submissions for this year's festival.

International films of all genres, from experimental films to TV series, will be shown for six days during the Jewish Film Festival Berlin. Dusty clichés are cleared up here, because the festival illuminates Jewish topics in all their diversity. Jewish identities come to the big screen in all their vitality, topicality and constant change.

An international program will be shown with films that discuss Jewish topics, negotiate history and stories from a Jewish perspective, positions show Jewish filmmakers, tell Jewish biographies and reflect on Judaism in its various forms. The task of the festival is also to keep the memory of the Shoah alive, to convey historical awareness and to counteract anti-Semitic attitudes.
The goal of the festival is to further expand the unique meeting point character of this event in the coming years. On the one hand, the existing audience is to be tied more closely to the festival, and on the other hand, further audience potentials are to be addressed. The role of the event as an industry meeting place is also to be expanded. The JFBB pays special attention to the discovery and promotion of young filmmakers in Germany and Israel.

The JFBB welcomes submissions of feature films, documentaries, as well as series, shorts, animated films, and experimental films that deal with Jewish life and culture past and present, are by Jewish filmmakers, and contain Jewish characters and themes essential to the plot. Works can be submitted until 15 March. More information can be found here.
