Open Call Residence Scholarship

Region Gävleborg is announcing the International Residency and Scholarship in relation to the UNESCO World Heritage site: Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland for individuals who have an idea related to the UNESCO World Heritage List

The World Heritage site was inscribed in 2012 and consists of seven large timber farmhouses with richly decorated interior. They are part of a concentration of over a thousand surviving timber structures in the Hälsingland area of reflect a timber building tradition that originated in the Middle Ages.

The scholarship announced by Region Gavleborg is aimed at individuals who have an idea related to the UNESCO World Heritage List and who are interested in the World Heritage site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland in connection with other world heritage sites.

The World Heritage Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland Residence Scholarship includes a one month stay in one or two of the seven world heritage farmhouse and a grant of 5,000 € to carry out the idea/project in question. Selected residents have two farms to choose from: Kristofers in Järvsö or Erik-Anders in Söderala.

At the Kristofers farm, the owners manage a working farm with animals, fields and forests. The farm is a few kilometers from Järvsö where there are shops and restaurants set in natural surroundings. The stay at Kristofers have to take place during the three summer months of June, July and August.

Erik-Anders is located just over 10 kilometers from Söderhamn, where there are shops, restaurants and the seafront. Residents will live close to the farm owners. The stay at Erik-Anders have to take place between April and November.

Researchers, artists or other cultural actors from all over the world can apply for the international scholarship.
