Since 2002 the PACT Zollverein offers a residency programme for international artists from all kind of different areas such as dance, performance, media arts and music in Essen (Germany). Artists and groups of a maximum of four can apply for the residency.
The residency brings along a studio space (from 69 to 173 sq. m.), local accommodation (max. 4 people), a weekly grant allowance for all of the residency project participants (max. 4 people), travel costs covering one journey only per participant to and from PACT Zollverein (max. 4 people), technical equipment and professional technical support. The residency has a period of three to six weeks.
Residents may choose to take advantage of various kinds of production support such as dramaturgy, technical assistance, project management as well as press and publicity. PACT Zollverein facilitates barrier-free and family-friendly residences by arrangement. The residency programme is a key element in PACT Zollverein's profile as an Artists' House supporting lively exchange between practice and theory. Situated in Essen (Germany) the PACT Zollverein boasts a nationwide unique working structure which consolidates three key areas of activity addressing regional, national and international social and cultural interests which all contribute to the standing and appreciation of dance and performance as independent art forms. It is a model cultural institution conceived and funded by the region.
