TANZAHOi is looking for dance films, dance streams, and digital dance projects for the 2022 edition of TANZAHOi International Festival, DIGI play DANCE. The festival will host events live in Hamburg and online between 9 and 18 September.
There are two different Open Calls: Dance Film Open Call and DIGI play DANCE Open Call.
The organisers are looking for international/national dance films for their new 2022 programwith the Dance Film Open Call. The selected dance films will be screened between 9 and 11 September at Metropolis Kino in Hamburg for a live audience as well as online for a virtual audience. All selected films will be eligible to receive the Jury Prize and Festival Prize, and will be welcomed to come to Hamburg to join the festival with provided 3-day accommodation. The organisers are looking for creativity, artistic research, and inspiration that binds the world of dance and the world of film into one.
The DIGI play DANCE open call offers two opportunities for digital and multi-media dance artists:
- International/national dance films and live-stream dance performances will be broadcasted live from the artists location to the Metropolis Kino between 9 and 11 September. The organisers are interested in showing existing productions, but also in stimulating new productions conceived especially for TANZAHOi. A maximum of €4,000 will be given to realize the stream performance.
- International/national digital dance projects that work with new technology and digital innovation such as VR, AR, AI, or 360º camera. The projects will be presented between 14 and 18 Septemberat LICHTHOF Theaterin Hamburg and can be presented in the form of installations, performances, screenings, VR experiences, etc. Up to €6,000 will be given to realize the digital projects.
The main interest of the project selection for the DIGI play DANCE open call lies with the possibility of transformation from the third dimension to other dimensions (VR, 3D animation, 360° camera, film, stream, etc.) without losing any information. TANZAHOi is an international dance festival hosted for the first time in Hamburg in 2018 with the participation of over 100 international dancers and choreographers. These artists, though from all over, live and work locally, growing their creative roots in the city. Because of the diversity of the free scene, there is great interest to build up the intercultural dance opportunities that Hamburg has to offer.
