The Literary Society of Thuringia (LGT) and the Weimar Animation Club are looking for innovative poetry films for the next Weimar Poetry Film Award. Filmmakers from any nation can apply with up to three short films of up to 10:00 mins.
The aim of the prize is to improve the exchange between authors and filmmakers in Thuringia and Central Germany, to sharpen the perception of poetry in multimedia contexts and to create more awareness for the experimental short film genre "poetry film".
The submitted short films should explore the relation between film and written poetry in an innovative, straightforward way, films that are produced before 2020 will not be considered. The international jury consists of three jurors with expertise in the fields of poetry, film production or criticism, and festival organisation. Three jury members will choose the winner of the main awards (Best animation, 1200 €; Best video, 1200 €). Moreover, from 2023 on two audience awards of 250 € will be awarded by the audience at the cinema and the online-audience. All submissions will be accredited to the festival and will have free access to the media library.
