Open Call Heritage Makers

Young European Heritage Makers is a competition for the young people of Europe aged 6 - 17 years old. The competition provides an opportunity for young Europeans to explore their surroundings, identify the most interesting parts of their heritage and present them to the rest of the world.

The competition hosted yearly in connection to the European Heritage Days (EHD) aims to encourage young people to understand the concept of heritage and express their views.

The main focus lies on groups of applicants fitting in one of the two age ranges 6-11 or 11-17 years old. Individuals may also submit their entries but will not partake in the competition itself. Nonetheless, their work is also exhibited on the EHD-Website. The answers to the question 'What is your European heritage?' can be given as

  • a video of up to 5 minutes or
  • a photo, painting, drawing, or other visual medium, accompanied by a description no longer than 800 words.

The participating countries of the Baltic Sea Region as of now are Finland and Poland. Though participation is not limited to this. Sending a request to jep-ehd[at]coe.int is the first step to connecting with your local coordinator to add further countries to the list.
Further information on the competition and important dates are found here. Contributions to the competition are handed in via this form here.

Motivate the young people in your community and support their participation as a mentor!
