Open Call AiR@SLU

Mistra Environmental Communication research program is hosting one artist-in-residence (AiR) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala. The resident will have the opportunity to investigate and explore environment and sustainability in collaboration with the research program and community.

The artist selected for the AiR@SLU will have dialogical exchange with Mistra Environmental Communication associates, organisational support from the organising team to showcase their produced work twice, immersion in the Mistra Environmental Communication research and community, a 44 000 SEK grant of which 36 000 SEK are earmarked to cover accommodation and living costs in Uppsala for 2 months, 4 000 SEK are earmarked to cover material costs, 4 000 SEK are earmarked to cover travel costs.

The artist-in-residence at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is performed on location in Uppsala from the 1 September until 31 October. All AiRs invite artists to collaborate in a dialogical fashion with academics and to become immersed in the Mistra Environmental Communication research programme, to develop creative work that situates environmental communication in art and explores academic research through an artistic lens. The dialogues with researchers serve as inspiration for artwork(s), and enriches the perspectives of the researchers. The goal of the AiRs is to foster collaboration between participants and to unlock new perspectives on environmental communication.

The Call is open to artists in any discipline, from visual, to sculptural, to digital media, and beyond. Applications can be submitted until 31 May. More information can be found here.

The residency is part of a larger residency program and is facilitated by the Mistra Environmental Communication Media & Art team at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism (ICSJ) at Charles University, with additional support from the NGO Sqridge.
