During the ARS BALTICA / Open Studio event with the artist and photographer Oksana Yushko, which took place from 9-11 February, Oksana gave an insight into her artistic research and current projects.
Oksana has been working around the Baltic Sea for a long time, starting her research from the biological station at Curonian Spit, spending time in the art residency Atelier Josepha in Ahrenshoop, and currently working with Arthur Bondar on a new chapter of A Bridge Too Far project on the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal in Rendsburg.
During three days Oksana welcomed visitors to exchange ideas and thoughts about her interest in the parallels between birdsong learning and human spoken languages through the lens of migration, conflict, and territoriality. Using mixed media, Oksana showed the development of her current projects to the collective of Nordkolleg, art students, artists and a broader audience from Hamburg and other cities.
