Open Call Serlachius Residency

The Serlachius Residency Programme is looking for visual artists, art historians, researchers or curators for a residency in 2023 in Finland. Residency applications may be made for a period of 1–4 months. In addition to individual residency periods, applications may also be made for production residencies spread over several consecutive years.

Working couples, artist groups and families may also apply for a residency place. During the first residency period, guests can focus on familiarising themselves with the life of the area. The project proposals resulting from this can then be carried out in new residency periods over the following years. A production residency provides good opportunities for the work of community artists, for example, in which case local residents, in particular, may be taken into consideration. After the visit, guests are expected to submit a report on their work at the residency.

The residency provides a peaceful working environment. Serlachius residency organises a Friday Coffee once every month which the residency guests are expected to present themselves briefly and to discuss their work. Local people interested in cultural events will be invited to attend Friday Coffee. The Serlachius residency programme hopes to provide residents with a successful work period and aims to promote the achievement of good results for work done after the residency period.

The Serlachius Residency is a guest studio, maintained by Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation, for professionals of the creative sector working in the visual arts. The Serlachius Residency was established in 2015 in cooperation with the Mänttä Art Festival. Applicatons can be submitted until 31 March. Rules of the resiency and more information about the application process can be found here.
