Support for cultural workers under threat

The Goethe-Institut and Artists at Risk, a global network-institution for art practitioners under threat, are arranging support offers to cultural workers from Ukraine or with permanent residency there for emergency temporary relocation and hosting.

Curators, critics and theorists are welcome to apply. Once the application has been received, a German-Ukrainian curatorial team from Artists at Risk and the Goethe-Institut will refer the applicants to appropriate support services.

Cultural institutions from Germany and countries and regions bordering Ukraine that offer support services for artists from Ukraine can submit them to the mediation service of the Goethe-Institut and Artists at Risk. The support services can include residencies and fellowships to work opportunities and studio space to exhibitions, artistic performances or productions. Funding is possible for a period of two to six months, the funding amount is 2.000€ per month. Smaller institutions and structures that have no other financial support options are to be encouraged in this way to set up new offerings. The funding can be used to cover production, accommodation and support costs.

Dissident Belarusian and Russian artists and cultural workers subject to persecution or political threats are also welcome to apply at Artists at Risk's website. The organisation also offers funding opportunities for Afghan artists and cultural workers, including curators, critics and theorists.

Artists at Risk (AR) welcomes AR-Residents as honoured visiting art professionals. AR-Residencies enable practitioners to take a “breather” as a respite from the threats they face in their home country or to use the programme as a “stepping stone” to re-orient their professional lives.

More information about all offers can be found here.
