The Northern Lights Festival is an Arctic music festival that presents top music artists from a variety of different music genres. This years edition will take place between 29 January and 6 February in Tromsø.
The city of Tromsø is the location of the "Northern Lights Festival" for over thirty years this year. The festival has presented many top artists from a variety of different music genres ranging from early music to modern, from opera to jazz, from chamber music to symphonic orchestras. Many local and international top artists like Leif Ove Andsnes and Yuri Bashmet already performed at the festival.
In the years before the pandemic, there were many activities besides the festival like outdoor events, lectures, exhibitions and other events like the Northern Lights cruise, festival pubs and master classes for musicians.
Every year the Northern Lights Award has been awarded to many different people in the history of the festival. The Northern Lights Award comes with a cash price of NOK50.000.
The festival organizers are working on implementing a significant part of the program through a digital free product. This year's program ranges from a "Romeo and Juliet" opening concert to "Music in the Arctic Night".
