The Up Grants micro-grant scheme promises international exposure and a grant of 3.500 EUR for four selected running or planned projects by socio-cultural centres in Creative Europe countries.
These projects should be aimed at improved accessibility and inclusion regarding amongst other factors disability, gender, religion, sexual orientation, language, age or socio-economic status. Up Grants works very impact-centered, makes the desired outcomes and changes provoked by the projects an essential application criterion and expects the project implementation of the successful applicants from April to August 2024.
Each application must relate to one of the following four strands provided as guidelines by the initiator, the European Network of Cultural Centers (ENCC):
- E-inclusion and digital accessibility: Creating digital interfaces accessible to the broadest audience possible
- Building inclusive narratives: Either constructing an authentic, cliché-countering narrative with diverse characters or providing trainig for cultural workers on the accessibility of their content
- Identification and removal of barriers for marginalized groups: recognizing and addressing obstacles
- Equality and diversity criteria in boards and management: Increasing the diversity in the governing teams of organisations, e. g. through diverse recruitment and transparent promotion
All eligible best practices will be posted on the ENCC website as an inspirational database. Combined with a public online voting from March 21 to March 28, 2024, an expert jury chooses one proposal per strand, based on impact, engagement of the local community, innovation, relevance in the Up Grant framework, additionality of the grant and awareness building.
In addition to the financial assistance and prominent position on the website, the winners will host a related workshop at the annual conference and networking event in Riga in June 2024, with travel costs and two nights of accomodation covered.
