We were always here

The event "We were always here" is a two-day literary-musical exploration of the tradition of Hebrew-Arab and non-white as well as queer poetry and word art in Germany and Europe. The exploration takes place on 1 and 2 June in Hamburg.

We were always here will pose questions about remembering and forgetting, about presuppositions about the beginning and end of the existence of certain communities. It will also use various artistic and cultural studies disciplines to develop a language for what has been (made) invisible in European historiography.

The event will start with readings and presentation of interdisciplinary works by Hatiçe Açikgoez, Joke Janssen, Matilda Süßmilch, Dagat Mera, Silang Mera, and Aisouda Hoshiyar. Visitors will also be able to visit an ehibition with paintings by Xiyu Tomorrow, Andrés Muñoz Claros and Maik Gräf, recording Staged reading of Sevi poems with Benjamin Radjaipour.
