Open Call Young European Artist

Since 1999, the Trieste Contemporanea rewards the YEATC Award to a young artist with the aim of promoting her or his work on the international art scene. The YEATC Award gives the overall winner the opportunity of conceiving and developing a solo exhibition at Studio Tommaseo in Trieste, Italy — due to be held in 2023.

The call is open to young artists under the age of 30 (born after 10 July 1992) and born in one of the following countries:Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. The winner will be asked to plan a 2023 solo exhibition at Studio Tommaseo in Trieste.

There is no fee for participation. Deadline for submitting applications online is 10 July. More information and how to submit can be found here.

Trieste Contemporaneais a hub of proposals and information on contemporary art. Since more than twenty years the hub have promoted “Dialogues with the Art of Central Eastern Europe”, in Trieste. Exhibitions, meetings, workshops, but also a more informal atmosphere for enjoying take place here. The visitor can find the experience of a consolidated European network of artists and curators or can learn about a history of art which Italian people is not yet very familiar to.

Young artists have many opportunities here: they can apply to the Young European Artist Award, submit a project to the International Design Contest, or to the SQUEEZE IT Contest, at the European crossroads of visual arts, theatre and new media. Trieste Contemporanea also has its own library of contemporary art, which is part of the National Library System, through the University of Trieste Pole, and is a registered venue for university internships.
